Lucky me! I spend my days doing what I love and loving what I do. (Notice my smiling face.)

What is it that I do?

I write picture books, board books, poetry and middle grade fiction, teach adult “Writing for Children” classes and coach writers of all ages to help them tell their stories.

I also visit schools, celebrating Young Writers and facilitating Writing Workshops. Often, too, I speak to writers, teachers, librarians and the community at large. I share my Writer’s Journey and the stories behind my stories, reader-writer connections and my working knowledge of today’s Children’s Book World.

No matter which of the above verbs claims my day, I strive to do everything a successful children’s book does: inform, delight, encourage, inspire.

Of course, a children’s book must always offer Hope. When folks ask me what I do, I say I’m in the Hope Business, bringing children’s books to the hands and hearts of readers.

Lucky me, indeed!
